The Idea of Order: Non-Equestrians…

Why even bother with them?
Presented by:

Equestrians are a unique breed. We spend insane amounts of time, money and energy making sure that 1000+ lb flight animals don’t kill themselves all so we can ride them around and dote on them. If you’re not part of the indoctrinated, it seems pretty ludicrous.

I get it.

And I also get that many of my non-horsie friends don’t understand what it is we actually do when riding. Nevertheless, the next schmuck who feels the need to tell me riding isn’t a sport is getting put on the youngest, most rank beast I can find and sent out for a likely-less-than-eight-second-spin. ;)

Go Riding!

Morgane Schmidt is a 36-year-old teacher/artist/dressage trainer/show announcer/ who still hasn’t quite decided what she wants to be when she grows up. A native Floridian, she now lives in Reno, NV, where she’s been able to confirm her suspicion that snow is utterly worthless. Though she has run the gamut of equestrian disciplines, her favorite is dressage. She was recently able to complete her USDF bronze and silver medals and is currently working on her gold. Generally speaking her life is largely ruled by Woody, a 14.2 hand beastly quarter horse, Willie, a now beastly 10-year-old Dutch gelding, and Milona DG, a 3 year old KWPN chestnut mare (you can make your own inferences there…).
