As horse owners, there are a lot of lies we tell ourselves. Things like, “Once I pay off these vet bills, I should be able to get on top of my finances.” Or “One more horse really won’t cost that much more.”
Then there are the lies we tell other people. To our significant others, “No, no. That horse has always been here. How can you not remember Flicka?” Or “I’ll only be at the barn for an hour.”
Finally, there are the lies we don’t mean to tell, but then our lovely equine pals make liars out of us. These are often the lies that come out when someone is doing a trial ride or when our favorite equine service professional is at the barn, trying to tame the fire-breathing dragon we swore was an angel yesterday.
