Thorpedo Anna was the star of the night and connections were in attendance to receive the honors on her behalf. Most prominent was her trainer Kenny McPeek who in 2024 won the Kentucky Derby with 18:1 underdog Mystik Dan in a three-horse photo finish.

On that same day he also won the Kentucky Oaks with stable mate Thorpedo Anna. This marked the first time since 1952 that a trainer swept both prestigious races in the same year. He was the third trainer to accomplish this feat. McPeek is one of only five living trainers to have won all three Triple Crown (Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont Stakes) races.
Thorpedo Anna won five Grade 1s and six graded stakes in 2024, the most for any North American horse. She won two of the most prestigious races for fillies and mares, the Longines Kentucky Oaks and Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff. Her jockey is Brian Hernandez. Thorpedo Anna competed in the 2024 Travers Stakes at Saratoga against the best male horses. She came in a close 2nd to Pletcher trained Fierceness. Her purse winnings to date are $3.8 Million dollars.
