‘Oh Crap’ Monday: It’s About To Get Western

Monday already is the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official. Here’s our latest “oh crap” moment.

As someone who is on the regular feed rotation at a barn with three weanlings, I relate to this video on a very personal level. Leading two fresh fillies at a time in or out from the pasture can get … a bit western. Never mind all three at once. In fact, there are some days when it’s in everyone’s best interest to suck it up and make multiple trips, leading just one at a time. And even that can turn into a schooling session (for whom is still up for debate).

As this wrangler leads his horses in, he gets stuck in that position of knowing things are about to go south while at the same time realizing he can’t let go of either lead rope or the horses will learn something that he doesn’t want to have to unteach them later.

Boy, do I feel for this guy. There’s no question that somewhere in the midst of this handling session, he’s thinking, “Oh crap.”

Go forth and tackle your Monday, Horse Nation.
