Gram of the Day from @kelseydoesthederby. ・・・ Day six, part two! . When we were about a kilometer out from the next station, we decided to get off and walk. I could tell that my horse was going to make dismounting exciting, so I let the other two get off first and was going to have one of them hold him. He skittered away from them and crow hopped a little. Spooky til the end. . I managed to dismount and we led them to the next station, where we quickly swapped horses. Once again the other two left ahead of me. I was starting to get the feeling they didn’t want to ride with me, but this leg I really didn’t have a choice…the batteries for my gps died and my spares were buried in my saddle bags. . The horse I picked for this section was quite crooked and would only pick up his left lead. Every stride he took I could feel my spine being pushed out of alignment. I was already feeling sour about being left, and his crooked movements were bringing out the worst in me. I tried hard to smile and enjoy the ride—it was beautiful—but I was cranky, tired, and my back was killing me from this damn horse. . As the leg went on, the horses started to slow down. The hour grew later. We pushed them on but time was ticking…20 minutes of ride time…15… . With ten minutes left in the day, we could see the station, but there was a bog between us and it. We had to ride around it. So frustrating to be so close and have to waste so much time going around! We did finally make it, with only two minutes to spare. . . . #mongolderby #mongolderby2019 #md19 #horselife #everydayequestrian #mongolia #goriding #enduranceriding #endurance #flx #fingerlakes #horsesofinstagram #equestrianadventuresses #crookedhorse #painful #runninglate #justkeepriding #wildhorses #mongolianhorse #gps #outofbatteries
