The Idea of Order: Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover…
…or a horse by its stature.
Ok guys, special treat with this week’s Guest Comic! Usually Guest Comic week is reserved for The Husband taking pot shots at equestrians, this time however I’d actually like to introduce you all to an outstanding young artist: Devon Bragg. I saw some of her work on FB through a mutual friend and just loved it so I thought I should share it. Though she works in various mediums, many of her equestrian pieces are done in ink and watercolor which I’m a huge fan of. Like my all time favorite equestrian cartoonist– Norman Thelwell– Devon does a beautiful job capturing the expression and attitude of her equine subjects and their lowly human servants.
Devon is currently in the process of starting her own equine web series so definitely be on that look out for that. In the mean time if you’d like to contact her or see more of her work she is on FB and can be reached at [email protected].
Bonus drawing, because her stuff is just so lovely:
Morgane Schmidt Gabriel is a 31-year-old teacher/artist/dressage trainer/show announcer/ who still hasn’t quite decided what she wants to be when she grows up. A native Floridian, she now lives in Reno, NV, where she’s been able to confirm her suspicion that snow is utterly worthless. Though she has run the gamut of equestrian disciplines, her favorite is dressage. She was recently able to complete her USDF bronze and silver medals and is currently working on her gold. Generally speaking her life is largely ruled by Woody, a 14.2 hand beastly quarter horse, Willie, a now beastly 5-year-old Dutch gelding, and Stormy, her friend’s nearly all white paint gelding with a penchant for finding every mud hole and pee spot in existence.
