Thursday Morning Feed from Fleeceworks: Golden Button Challenge Helmet Cam

“Galloping through the English countryside without a care in the world — besides the handful of loose horses running next to you and the monstrous jumps that are rapidly approaching. No big deal, right?”

Say hello to the Golden Button Challenge.

To recap, this three-day UK extravaganza is a challenge to test even the most bad-a$$ of riders. The 2015 edition, which returned this year after a brief hiatus, was held over Valentine’s Day weekend. As per tradition, it began with a full day of hunting with the Ledbury Hunt on Friday, followed by a three-mile cross country ride over an original steeplechase course, with a Grand Ball to cap the weekend off with cocktails and social graces. In case you missed our first post on this pant-crapping worthy crazy Golden Button Challenge, you’ll want to catch up here.

Thankfully, someone wearing a helmet cam lived to tell the story.

OK, so first off, you may want to grab a drink (yes, we know it’s morning, but still) before you watch this video. Two members of Pearson Eventing in the UK (spoiler alert: one finished quite well!) took part in this year’s race. Check this out:

It’s a picturesque setting, really. Galloping through the English countryside without a care in the world — besides the handful of loose horses running next to you and the monstrous jumps that are rapidly approaching. No big deal, right?

I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to try this race that seems straight out of National Velvet, but hey, I’ll raise my flask to those who are! How about you? Would you give the Golden Button Challenge a shot?

Go Riding, and Go Fleeceworks!
