Kentucky Performance Products #OhCrapMonday

Monday is already the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official… and it doesn’t get much crappier than your horse falling down two flights of stairs. The racehorse Love Dreams took a tumble last week — and miraculously walked away!

Someone must be watching over the horse Love Dreams. Whether you believe in a deity or Lady Luck, how else do you explain a horse falling down two flights of concrete stairs and walking away with nothing worse than skinned stifles and a busted tooth?

Love Dreams, a five-year-old Thoroughbred, was saddled in the paddock at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai on Thursday of last week. Apparently a bit keyed-up before the start, the horse ditched his jockey in the paddock, bolted and crashed through the paddock rail, and then went off on a wild hare, likely having no idea where he was going… before he fell right down an open stairwell, careening down two sets of concrete steps.

Trainer Charlie Johnston heard but did not see the wreck, but raced over to the stairwell, expecting to find his horse dead or maimed at the bottom — but there was Love Dreams, looking back up at him. Johnston hurried down the stairs to pull the horse’s saddle and look him over, and was shocked to find only some minor skinning on his stifles, and a knocked-out tooth.

With the help of track staff, the horse was given a mild sedative and then led right back up the stairs the way he came. He got some bute and the next day was gently hand-walked and appeared to be just fine, all things considered!
