Friday Flicks: Need a date?

Amanda Ronan takes a peek at a scandalous Swedish calendar that inexplicably pairs up two of our favorite things: handsome horses and hardly-clothed men.

So, okay, this article has absolutely nothing to do with horse-related movies, or equestrian celebrities, or for that matter, Swedish nobility. But in a day and age where it seems like every other news article is telling us how the world is ending one cruise ship disaster at a time isn’t it worthwhile just to sit back and be entertained occasionally?

In that spirit, I bring you the 2012 Swedish Nobility calendar… one year late but nonetheless awesome.

Now, to be honest, I have no idea what this calendar is about because the website I found it on doesn’t seem functional and what is functional is in a foreign language. But you don’t need words to see the… ahem… beauty in these photos.

Like this one. Look at that indoor! And that rubber composite footing! Oh yeah, and there’s a naked man there too. Nice helmet, dude.

This next one is a little to Shawshank for my liking, but these guys are really working those cross-ties.

Dude One says: Horsie, welcome to the gun show. Horse says: I hate it when the weird boyfriends come to the barn.

And then there is Mr. March, who washes saddle pads on his abs.

Somewhere along the line Mr. March loses his pants and has to use a bridle, leathers and stirrups to cover himself from the eyes of the woodland creatures… because he’s Mr. Modesty.

Pictures not good enough, well, guess what? There’s a “Making Of” video! By the way… it shows naked boy bums… so the video is at least PG-13.

So there is a Flick to watch this Friday. Granted it’s only two minutes long but you can always hit that refresh button!

Amanda’s experience with horses is just as eclectic as her taste in movies.  She has dabbled in almost every discipline from eventing to team penning to fox hunting.  She started riding when she was 8 with her local 4-H club in Western performance events.  She moved on to the AQHA circuit with her Quarter Horse, “Aggie,” when she was 12 and he was a green 2 year old.  Through college she held a working student position at Seahorse Sporthorses, owned by Terri Adams, where she was introduced to the wonderful world of show jumping and eventing.  Along with Aggie, who just turned 20 years old, she has two OTTBs in her herd named “Gump” and “Lizard.”  Amanda continues her jumping training with Ms. Adams and works on that necessary evil also known as dressage with Mimi Burch of Blue Moon Farm.
