A 17-year-old barrel racing competitor was arrested after allegedly stabbing three horses during the 2026 National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) Professional’s Choice Las Vegas Super Show held at the South Point Arena & Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to reports of an injured horse shortly after 2 a.m. Upon arrival, investigators discovered that three horses had been intentionally wounded with what authorities believe was a knife or other sharp object. Detectives quickly identified a 17-year-old female competitor who had access to the barn area as a suspect. She was later located at a nearby hotel and taken into custody.
The juvenile was booked into Clark County Juvenile Hall on multiple charges, including 12 counts related to animal maiming and torture and three felony counts of malicious destruction of private property.
