Tuesday Video: Western Horses Gone English
Here’s a solid representation of what it looks like when western trained horses spend the day doing English.
These horses showed up to English jumping day convinced they were headed to a ranch sorting. They were absolutely convinced this was all a misunderstanding. Every stride said, “I could cut a cow at full speed, but you want me to prance politely over these decorative sticks?” Bless them, they tried, ears forward, hearts big, but somewhere between the approach and the launch, it turned into a Western interpretive piece titled “Watch me fail at this.” Legs went flailing, strides got creative, and at least one horse probably thought, “Did you see that? I survived.” Not their discipline, but undeniably their moment.
Maybe not the best way to introduce a horse to jumps, but it’s entertaining to be sure.
