‘Oh Crap’ Monday: Only in Australia

Monday already is the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official. Here’s our latest “oh crap” moment.

I feel like Australia is a land where the improbable is … surprisingly probably.

After all, only in Australia could a couple of galloping Thoroughbreds suddenly find themselves interrupted by a kangaroo on the track. Anywhere else in the world, a stray dog or bird might cause chaos — but Down Under, the national animal decides it’s time to practice its own form of cross-country — leaping right into the middle of a training gallop like it owns the joint. The horses? Unfazed. The jockeys? Also unsurprisingly unfazed. (My favorite part of this whole thing might be when the jockeys casually look back and the kangaroo and continue the gallop.) The kangaroo? Off in the bush, reminding everyone that in Australia, even race training is fair game for wildlife auditions.

Go forth and tackle your Monday, Horse Nation.
