Reader Photo Challenge: Dazzling Dapples

Here are 13 horses with beautiful dapples.

One of my favorite nursery rhymes as a child went like this:

I had a little pony,
His name was Dapple Grey;
I lent him to a lady,
To ride a mile away

She whipped him and she slashed him,
And she rode him through the mire;
I would not lend my pony now,
For all the lady’s hire.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn’t have loved it because, well, the entire second verse. However, as a small child, I just loved the idea of a dapple grey pony (and, to be fair, it did teach a valuable lesson — don’t lend out your pony!).

That dapple grey pony helped inspire this week’s reader photo challenge, which asked our readers to show us their ponies’ dapples. And, boy, did they deliver!
