Gram of the Day from # @howtohorsemom. ・・・ Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda… ✨⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Today I had a bit of a challenging hack with Tony. Yesterday we lessoned and he was a jerk going over ground poles & my trainer thought she should give him a training ride on Thursday to tune him up. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Well, today I went for a hack and instead of just having a lovely ride, I decided I wanted to try going over the poles again, just a couple of times, to see how he was today. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Well, he was even worse… and of course I didn’t want to leave it on a bad note, so we went around and around until I got one I felt was good enough to leave it on, but it made for a frustrating ride.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I know not to drill my horse, but when you want to leave an exercise on a somewhat positive note, how do you achieve that if things just aren’t going right? ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ It’s tough! Next time if I know an exercise probably won’t go my way, I’ll leave it for a lesson & just do something I know we can be productive at. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ But with that being said, even when things are going well & I’m not expecting too many challenges, this can and sometimes does happen anyway; and then I feel really guilty if it takes a lot of repetition to end on a positive note aka I feel like a drill master & I know better. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ What do you guys do when an exercise isn’t going your way? #goriding
