‘Oh Crap’ Monday: Sorry for the Late Reply…
… I was wrestling a dragon.
Monday already is the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official. Here’s our latest “oh crap” moment.
There are two types of people in this world:
- People who think we’re ignoring their texts.
- People who understand that sometimes we’re just trying to prevent 1,200 pounds of chaos from choosing violence.
This week’s Oh Crap Monday reel perfectly captures the equestrian version of “I’ll text you back in a minute.”
The on-screen text reads:
“You always take so long to reply.”
Cut to: a rider attempting to hang onto a spooking horse in water… reins slipping… dignity evaporating… horse exiting stage left at warp speed.
Ah yes.
The situation I’m trying to reply in.
Because here’s the thing non-horse people don’t fully grasp:
- We don’t “step away for a second.”
- We don’t “just quickly check our phone.”
- We are actively negotiating with a prey animal who just saw something that may or may not have been a leaf.
When you text us and we don’t respond for 37 minutes, it’s not personal. It’s because:
- We were preventing a full-blown aquatic yeehaw situation.
- We were trying not to become a meme.
- We were calculating whether we could catch said horse before it reached the next county.
- We were surviving.
And can we talk about the real heroes here?
The ones who keep filming.
Because why WHY do people always lower the camera the second things get a bit ranchy? Right before we fall. Right before the bolt. Right before gravity claims its prize.
No. We need evidence. We need receipts. We need slow-motion replay.
If you’re going to document our questionable life choices, commit to it.
So if you’re waiting on a text from your horse friend, just know they were probably:
- Holding onto a soggy rocket launcher with legs
- Arguing with physics
- Or reconsidering every life decision that led them to water + spook + reins
Not ignoring you.
Just busy stopping a 1,200lb animal from ruining their day.
