Friday Video: Tree Decorating

Six days out from Christmas, this rider proves that when time is short, horsepower makes everything more efficient.

With just six days left until Christmas, the pressure officially is on — and if your tree is still naked, you’re not alone. Between work, barn chores, family commitments, and the general chaos of December, decorating can slide way down the to-do list. Luckily, the horse world has once again stepped in with an efficient, slightly unhinged solution: decorating your Christmas tree at a canter.

In this video from Warwick Schiller’s Attuned Horsemanship, a rider calmly canters a horse around a Christmas tree while stringing lights in one smooth, continuous loop. No ladder. No tangled cords. No yelling at a family member to “hold it steady.” Just rhythm, timing, and a horse who clearly understands the assignment. Is it practical for everyone? Absolutely not. Is it faster than dragging lights out of the tack room, untangling them for 45 minutes, and still ending up with bald spots? Undeniably yes. If you’re behind on decorating and happen to have a horse, a lead rope, and a strong sense of holiday humor, this might just be the most on-brand equestrian life hack of the season.

Bonus points: According to the Facebook post, this endeavor was completed by Can you believe Oscar, a 21-year-old horse, who lives in a pasture and hardly ever gets ridden, “but is always up for some fun when Robyn comes up with one of her wild ideas.”

Happy Friday, Horse Nation. We hope you’re ready for the holidays and won’t be spending the upcoming weekend running around like a crazy person trying to get your last minute shopping done.
