Tuesday Video: Lunging a Fresh Horse
Here’s a bit of humor and a bit of education all in one video!
Sometimes you watch a horse being lunged and it looks less like training and more like a tornado drill. They’re out there ripping around the circle with their tail flagged, eyes bulging, and the human on the end of the line doing calculus they did not sign up for. While it’s hilarious from a safe distance — like watching a toddler chug a juice box then sprint in circles — it’s also a reminder that out-of-control lunging is basically chaos on a string. It’s funny until somebody gets dragged, so maybe we need to remember that lunging is supposed to build manners, not momentum for orbit.
