If Your Horse Made a Back-to-School List…
All the kiddos are heading back to school. Their backpacks and lunchs are packed and their headed off on the bus. But what would our horses put on their back to school lists?

It’s officially back-to-school season — and here at Horse Nation, back to school isn’t just for kids. In fact, we think if horses had their own shopping lists, you can bet the aisles at the tack store would be packed. While we’re stocking up on pencils, notebooks, and backpacks, our equine friends would be filling their own shopping carts. Because let’s face it — whether it’s in the classroom or the pasture, everyone’s got their own version of school supplies.
Here’s what each of our horses would pack to head back to school.

A Gelding’s Back-to-School List
- 1 sturdy halter (any color is fine, I’m not picky)
- A lunchbox stuffed with alfalfa cubes
- Extra fly spray — because I’m sweet, and the flies know it
- A pencil case I’ll probably drop in the mud within 5 minutes
- Snacks for sharing (because if you’re eating, I’m eating)
- A comfy lead rope for “nap class”

A Mare’s Back-to-School List
- Glitter hoof polish in three shades (don’t ask why, just trust me)
- A crop — not for me, for keeping classmates in line
- Mane detangler, because fabulous takes work
- Notebook for recording grudges
- “Do Not Touch” stickers for my stuff (especially my snacks)
- One dramatic sigh per class period (unlimited refills)

A Stallion’s Back-to-School List
- Mirror for admiring my perfect forelock
- Gold-plated horseshoes (obviously)
- A saddle pad embroidered with “Legend”
- Sunglasses to block out the glare of my own greatness
- Megaphone to announce my arrival to the barn aisle
- A notebook I’ll never use — because geniuses don’t need notes

A Pony’s Back-to-School List
- Extra apples (not for sharing, obviously).
- A slingshot to launch manure at classmates.
- Disguise kit for when the teacher catches me escaping under the fence.
- Permanent marker to re-label everyone else’s feed buckets as mine.
- An extra bucket, to collect the blood of my enemies….
