NFR Barrel Racing Round 4 Recap: Beisel Brings The Heat

As we head into Round 5 of the NFR, here is a recap of the Round 4 Barrel Racing and the current world standings. Emily Beisel and Chongo made a fantastic run last night to win the round and $28,913.70!

In Round 4, Emily Beisel guided her main mount Namgis D 33, aka “Chongo,” to a winning time of 13.60 seconds. After knocking a barrel in Round 2 and 3, which added 5 seconds to what would have been the fastest time in those rounds, Emily was seeking redemption. She focused on making a smooth and fast run and the result was flawless. This marked her 6th round win aboard Chongo in four NFR qualifications. Chongo is a twelve-year-old grey gelding by Bucks Hancock Dude and out of Track Goddess, by Eyesa Special. He has been a fan favorite for years because of his calm demeanor and his quick acceleration out of the alleyway. Emily is currently 7th in the world standings with $140,340 and 15th in the aggregate.

Lisa Lockhart’s experience in the rodeo arena was on full display as she guided her young horse Promise Me Fame Guys, aka “Levee,” to a 13.65 second run which split second in the round. Levee is a 2016 gelding by Ain’t Seen Nothin Yet out of Bar Blue Lass, by FC Aboo. Levee had over $120,000 in futurity earnings before he was purchased by Teton Ridge for Lisa to compete on. He was the 2021 Ruby Buckle Futurity Reserve Champion. Levee made an appearance in on round at the 2021 NFR, but was still quite green. With more seasoning, he is making some very solid and consistent runs for Lisa this year. She has climbed to 6th in the World Standings with earnings of $144,304 and is leading the aggregate. This is Lisa’s 16th consecutive NFR qualification but the world title still eludes her. She is currently sitting $70,000 behind the leader Jordan Briggs but with round wins paying $28,913 and the top of the aggregate paying over $80, 000, it is anyone’s game for the next 6 rounds. This video of Lisa’s run was taken by the family that raised and started the training of Levee, it truly does take a village to get a horse from foal to running down the alley of the Thomas and Mack.

Splitting second with Lisa was Margo Crowther and Shes Packin Fame. Margo is a first-time NFR qualifier from North Fort Myers, Florida. Shes Packin Fame “Sissy” is a 10-year-old mare by Carrizzo and out of Heidis Dashing Sixes, by Packin Sixes. Margo trained Sissy and brought her up through barrel racing futurities and derbies. Margo is currently sitting 4th in the world standings with earnings of $149,774 and 3rd in the aggregate.
