How did you start riding?

I started riding when I was given a lesson as my birthday gift when I turned six.

What is your favorite thing about riding/or your horse?

My favorite thing about riding is my horse. I love being able to have a bond with my incredible horse and being able to spend time with her, whether its riding or grooming.

What would you like to do when you are older?

I am not exactly sure yet what I want to do when I’m older, but I know I want a career in either sustainable science or environmental science.

Tell us your favorite quote and why:

My favorite quote is, “You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.” by Dr. Seuss. This is my favorite quote because it taught me to be open to new opportunities and experiences. When I was younger I was quite shy and nervous about new experiences. This quote continues to inspire me to look beyond what I know to be open to unexpected possibilities.

What are your goals for your horse in 2019?
My goals for my horse and I in 2019 are to be successful in Thoroughbred divisions and to continue to improve our riding.

The Thoroughbred Incentive Program was created by The Jockey Club to encourage second careers for Thoroughbreds when their racing days are over. The T.I.P. sponsors Thoroughbred-only classes and high point awards as well as Performance Awards, special year-end awards specifically for Thoroughbreds. The T.I.P. also recognizes non-competing Thoroughbreds through its Young Rider program as well as a special award for Thoroughbreds in careers such as therapy horses or other non-profit outlets.
