Standing Ovation by Ovation Riding

This week’s honoree: the Right Horse Adoption Fair at Ohio Equine Affaire.

With so many rescue horses looking to connect with the right homes all over the country, this concept from The Right Horse Initiative is genius: the Right Horse Roadshow will be heading to Columbus, Ohio for Equine Affaire on April 11-14 to set up an interactive booth to promote horse adoptions, plus The Right Horse Adoption Fair with around 20 horses representing six adoption organizations all available to meet, try and apply to adopt on the spot.

With an audience numbering in the thousands, this is an innovative new way to put adoption in the mainstream and make it part of the conversation on acquiring horses. Adoptable horses will come from The American Saddlebred Legacy Foundation, Kentucky Humane Society, New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program, Re-Ride Quarter Horse Adoption Program, Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue and Copper Horse Crusade. Breeds represented will include Quarter horses, off-track Thoroughbreds and everything in between.

Potential adopters can meet horses right at Equine Affaire, ride them (if they’re over the age of 18) and apply to adopt all in one location. Additionally, if none of the horses at The Right Horse Adoption Fair are a good match, The Right Horse Initiative can help connect adopters with organizations and horses in need.

For more information, check out the event’s Facebook page and the designated page on the Equine Affaire website.
