Classic Performance of the Week

Stephen Got Even passed away yesterday at the age of 23. We remember his contributions to the sport of horse racing in today’s Performance of the Week.

Lane’s End Farm reported yesterday the passing of Stephen Got Even at the age of 23. The son of A.P. Indy was himself a Grade 1 winner, as well as sire of 38 black-type stakes winners. His most notable offspring on the track were 2005 champion two-year-old male Stevie Wonderboy, and grade one winners First Dude and I Want Revenge. Stephen Got Even was noted by Lane’s End for his excellent disposition.

On the track, Stephen Got Even’s major wins came in the Galleryfurniture.com Stakes (G2) and the Donn Handicap (G1). Lane’s End compiled all of Stephen Got Even’s wins in this video:

As well as leaving his mark on the racing world, descendants of Stephen Got Even are also finding second careers in riding homes — perhaps thanks to his noted good disposition.

Rest in peace, Stephen Got Even.
