‘Oh Crap’ Monday, Loose Cows Edition

Monday is already the crappiest day of the week, so it only makes sense that we make things official. Here’s our latest “oh crap” video, gleaned from the internet.

Our “Oh Crap” Monday column typically features a small-scale disaster of the equine variety, celebrating the age-old equestrian skill of learning to laugh at oneself by sharing their videos on the internet.

Today’s video actually highlights a bovine disaster… with horses, humans and a hardworking cattle dog coming to the rescue.

A small herd of steers got loose (somehow) outside a Fort Worth, Texas shopping mall — but where there are cattle in Texas, there are cowboys, cowhorses and cowdogs to round them back up again. As the saying goes when moving cattle, “act like you have all day and it’ll take you ten minutes” and this group’s almost casual-looking drive around the mall takes them all of about ten minutes on the dot.

We’re not really sure how the cattle wound up loose at a shopping mall in the first place, but we know exactly who we’re going to call should it ever happen to us.

(We recommend muting the video to silence the drone of the helicopter!)

Had this happened on our farm, our cattle would have scattered to the wind and likely somehow wound up inside the mall, leaving a trail of destruction through department stores and outlets. Well done, cowboys, cowhorses and cowdog.
