The 2018 Ira Schulman Award is now open for voting!

In July, the Retired Racehorse Project accepted nominations from the public for individuals, businesses or listing agents which were doing great work in the horse industry to place retiring Thoroughbred racehorses in good second-career homes. This award is named for Ira Schulman, who was believed to have placed more ex-racehorses in his lifetime than any other individual or organization.

The Ira Schulman Award was first given in 2017, with the inaugural awarding to Mr. Schulman himself. The award is designated for professionals who place Thoroughbreds for a living rather than non-profits; both entities are critical facets of the industry to ensure that more retiring racehorses wind up with good homes with the tools and matches needed to succeed.

Voting is now open for the 2018 Ira Schulman Award. Voting opened this morning and will remain open until 3 AM on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
