Thursday Video: Nyquist Still Loves to Run

All that bluegrass has clearly been very kind to this Kentucky Derby winner!

Social media allows us to follow our favorite racehorses in their second careers like never before, whether the horse is finding his feet as a sporthorse like racer-turned-eventer Icabad Crane, or a well-loved colt or filly heading to the breeding farm. Darley Stud maintains a great social media presence, updating fans on the major events in a stud’s career as well as the everyday moments that let us feel connected.

In a “stars: they’re just like us!” moment, Darley posted this video recently of 2016 Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist enjoying a good run in his gorgeous paddock at the American branch of Darley, Jonabell Farm:

Around and around he goes! Every time I assume that he must be slowing down he just accelerates and goes for another hot lap. I’d like to think he’s playing out the 2016 Triple Crown campaign in his head, or maybe reliving that Kentucky Derby moment in which he became only the eighth horse to ever win on an undefeated career.
