Here’s to the Barn Moms

“No matter the discipline you ride, no matter whether you compete or ride for fun, there is one thing that most of us have in common — the barn mom that supported our crazy horse passion.”

No matter the discipline you ride, no matter whether you compete or ride for fun, there is one thing that most of us have in common — the barn mom that supported our crazy horse passion. Whether this is your own mother or a kind mother figure at the barn who took you under your wing, Mother’s Day is a day of recognition to all mothers and we wanted to help give a shout out the unsung heroes that are barn moms.

Thank you for every time you tolerated early morning alarms and late nights at a horse show, knowing you would have to repeat the process again.

Thank you for always having wet wipes, extra hair nets, and sunscreen because you knew we would forget.

Thank you for never failing to meet us at the in gate with a bottle of water and hundreds of photos of our rounds.

Thank you for toting us back and forth, back and forth, to the barn before we could drive.

Thank you for watching us fall and encouraging us to get back up, rather than showing us just how scared you really were.

Thank you for holding your breath at every jump, every barrel, every obstacle until we came across it clear.

Thank you for cheering us on, even if you had no clue what we were doing.

Thank you for stopping at EVERY. SINGLE. tack store when we go on family vacations.

Thank you for buying all the little horse trinkets you come across at gas stations, flea markets, and the mall.

While the photo is blurry and Lance looks like he wasn’t super happy, this was the happiest day of my life. The day my mom and dad agreed to help me buy my first horse. Photo by Kristie Miller

Thank you for your words of encouragement and sage advice when the going gets tough.

Thank you for holding our anxious horse as we dart back to the barn to grab something we forget and quietly talking to them as if you weren’t nervous too.

Thank you for celebrating every victory with us and for lifting us up from every learning experience.

Thank you for being our coach’s assistant, our groom, and our horse’s caretaker.

Thank you for always having snacks in your purse, for us and the horse.

Thank you every sacrifice you have made, emotionally and financially, to watch our dreams come true.

Thank you for letting us create clubs as little kids and encouraging it through club meetings and t-shirts.

Thank you for teaching us to be appreciative for our blessings and to work for what we cannot afford on our own.

Thank you for being brave when we are scared, for being strong when we are weak, and for being our shoulder to lean on when we are tired.

Thank you, for being you. Thank you for being our mother. Thank you for everything.

Cheers to the barn moms of the world: you help our dreams come true.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Horse Nation! Go riding.
