Standing Ovation by Ovation Riding: Help a Horse Day

Every Friday, Horse Nation teams up with Ovation Riding to spotlight an individual or organization doing good work in the horse world. Today, we recognize the ASPCA’s Help a Horse Day, taking place April 21-26, 2017.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or ASPCA, hosts its annual Help a Horse Day as a contest to award grant money to deserving 501(c)(3) horse shelters or sanctuaries. For 2017, Help a Horse Day runs from April 21 through April 26, with participating horse rescues hosting special events to boost awareness, raise funds or collect supplies and increase their community outreach. The most creative, engaging events can snag the hosting rescue grant funding, with the grand prize of $25,000!

Help a Horse Day is unique in that its mission is twofold: not only does it offer rescues an opportunity to win grant money, which can be of critical importance in continuing their good work helping horses, but it also encourages rescues to think outside the box in their respective communities to increase their outreach and network.

As a nationwide event, we can all help a participating rescue by attending a Help a Horse Day event nearby. Click here to check out a full list of participating rescues and the events they have planned, and learn more about the ASPCA and Help a Horse Day.

We thank the ASPCA for its creative Help a Horse Day program and the good work the organization does every day for animals in need.

Many thanks thanks to Ovation Riding for their support of both Horse Nation and individuals and organizations that are doing good work in the horse world. If you know someone who deserves a Standing Ovation, we would love to recognize them in a future post. Email the name of the person or organization along with a message about the good work they do to [email protected]. Photos/videos are always welcome, and include a link to their website if applicable.
