Friday Standing Ovation by Ovation Riding

Each Friday, Horse Nation teams up with Ovation Riding to spotlight an individual or organization doing good work in the horse industry. Today, we recognize Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue of Frisco, Texas.

An aged gray gelding named Bubbles has gone viral this month for his “self rescue”:

BUBBLES!! A story to warm your heart! When we went to bail the mini donkeys from the kill lot, this skinny, grey gelding walked straight up to our trailer, pass the gates, disregarding the commands of the kill lot employees. He was intent that this was his ride out of there. We stood there staring as this old guy with crumbled ears from frostbite waited patiently for the group of mini donkeys to catch up so he could jump on the “freedom trailer” out of there. There was just no way we could leave him behind!

Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, we had just enough money left over to pay his bail. This sweet, old man won our hearts the minute he decided it was the perfect time to escape the kill lot. It seems that he thought nobody would notice him escaping if he simply mixed in with the mini donkeys!

Bubbles is now safe here at Becky’s Hope where he continues to hang out with his mini donkey cohorts. If you need a gift for the animal lover in your life…consider giving them the gift of love by sponsoring Bubbles in their name. He has lots of love to give! #Bubbles

His kind rescuer was Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue, a 501(c)(3) charity rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming horses in need around its home base in Frisco, Texas. In addition to its mission to rescue abused, neglected and abandoned horses, Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue also seeks to educate the public about responsible horse ownership, equine care and horsemanship skills.

Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue was named for its first rescued animal, a mare named Becky who still resides in the permanent sanctuary herd. Bubbles will likely remain at Becky’s Hope in the sanctuary herd for seniors as he appears to be quite aged, and will likely also serve as a mascot now that he’s reached viral status!

Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue is entirely run by volunteers. For more information about Becky’s Hope Horse Rescue or to make a donation, please visit the rescue’s website. You can also follow the rescue on Facebook for plenty of regular updates, including news about Bubbles and his various other equine friends.
