Fantasy Farm Tuesday: Home, Home on the Most Glamorous Range Ever

Where the deer and the antelope play outside my 4,600 square foot home, next to my world-class covered arena and luxury barn.

We’ve been fantasy farm hunting in Texas this month, and we are not disappointed with what we found. Today we’re scoping out Fortune Bend River Ranch, and every single element of this sprawling adventurer’s paradise has us packing our bags and playing the lotto. There’s a state-of-the-art covered arena where you can work your cows all day, an observatory where you can watch the stars all night, and a luxury outdoor kitchen that should probably be on a constant rotation of Texas BBQ and fire-roasted flapjacks.

The Land

Set on 363 glorious acres in the Palo Pinto mountains of north Texas, this ranch is just the thing for the “work hard play hard” types. The Brazos River runs through the property, one of many gorgeous water features on the ranch. You’re just remote enough that there isn’t a speck of light pollution; just a little bit of earthly atmosphere between you and the Milky Way Galaxy. According to the listing, “For the outdoor enthusiast there are two skeet shooting setups. The ranch even has a zip line running from the hilltop down towards the river. Wildlife is abundant in the area with good hunting for deer, turkey, wild hogs, and dove.” So, if you ever do tire of your horse chores (LOL), there’s plenty more to enjoy.

The Barn

This barn is so Texas, it makes the Alamo look like a wannabe. It’s big, it’s fancy, and it’s western. It’s the ten gallon hat of Texas barns. It features the beautiful covered front porch with custom stone work. Sunny, lantern-lit aisles with industrial fans and ventilation, and plenty of country charm without sacrificing safe and happy horses. The stalls have enormous attached outdoor runs, and beautiful wood and iron fronts. For the humans, there’s a fabulous kitchen and lounge area inside, and a cozy fire pit outside.

The Arena

The covered arena is a monstrous 130 x 305 feet, and also has a 42 x 60 foot covered viewing area for your many adoring fans to watch you ride. Speaking of fans, the arena has plenty of them in the ceiling for hot summer days, along with superb lighting for a cooler night ride in the summers. The footing is flawless, and the arena is fully lined with gap-free fencing down the long sides for superior safety and aesthetics.

The Main House and Bunk Houses

The primary residence provides more than just a ton of space at 4,600 square feet: It’s also the perfect place to slow down and relax after a Texas-sized helping of hard work. The living areas offer floor-to-ceiling views of the ranch in all directions, a master chef-friendly kitchen (indoor and outdoor), and tons of extra rooms for you and all your friends that NEVER LEAVE because why would they? This house is WAY better than their house. There is also a second bunk house and a foreman’s house which you could use for employees, guests, or somewhere to send your significant other when they forget your anniversary.
