Fantasy Farm Wednesday: Southern Charm in South Carolina

If covered arenas could be considered artwork, then this one is a masterpiece. The ‘Mona Lisa’ of covered arenas.

This gem in the verdant hills of South Carolina just minutes from historic Aiken, South Carolina is everything you could want in a private horse property: Luxury for the human sorts, and paradise for the equine sorts.  Unlike some of the other sprawling training facilities we’ve seen in the past, this property is geared more toward the owner who wants to keep the good life all to themselves, and who could blame them? Let’s take a look at the horse goods first. (Duh.)

The Barn

Not overly audacious but sparing no expense, the nine-stall barn has traditional woodwork, a lovely layout, and is perfectly pristine. There’s easy water access and good drainage, and I love the detail of having the halter hook outside each stall. That alone would probably save a person 20 minutes a day.

The barn also has a gorgeous tack room with lounge space and a kitchen that is at least 17 times nicer than my actual kitchen.

The Arena

By far my favorite feature of the horse property is the incredible 80 x 225 covered and irrigated arena that simultaneously offers shade and a breeze from sunup to sundown. (But of course, it’s also lit for your post-sundown needs as well.)  The architecture is practical but wonderful; you’re definitely training and recreating in style here.

The Property

There are 75 acres of South Carolina greenery, twenty of which are designated horse turnout, as well as a 4.5 acre pond that you can see from the back of the house’s many balconies.

The House

The human residence is a lovely newer construction built in 2001, and it has all sorts of sweet southern details like blossoming trees, grand woodwork, and sophisticated floor-to-ceiling libraries.

But best of all is that this house is loaded with luxury goodies with which a girl can unwind after a long day in tall boots and naughty ponies, including:
