Is this rider sitting BEHIND her saddle? Learn the story behind this photo and many more in our latest gallery of thrills and spills!
Our first photo is from Shannon Gobey, who shares how the story ended: “Turned out eating dirt! We were teaching a green broke rescue to jump and she stopped right before the fence then launched herself over it!” For good measure, she sent us a second photo as well: “My horse tripped after the bank in the water and I fell forward… pretty refreshing, lol, great memories!!”
And there’s much more where that came from! From Chris Quinn: “Rider stayed on to finish the round….!”
From Sydney Wells: “This from a trip I took a couple of years ago to Ireland. I was fairly new to cross-country, and apparently had a lot of trouble with the up and down part of it.”
From Molly Sherman: “We left from an odd spot coming up hill and I got in his way. My face shows the preparation for impact while he… he just wants me to get my stuff together.”
From Margaret: “This is a young horse I was on at his first show, and something very scary jumped out of the bushes behind him. Probably a horse-devouring mountain lion. We recovered, but I had to do the rest of the test half-blind because my hat fell down over my eyes.”
From Holly Hepworth: “Compass tossed her after and he continued to run through the fence and back to the barn.”
From Emily Nash: “This is my quarter horse mare. She jumps like a deer when she is stressed. This is her first cross country school with my assistant trainer on her back. She landed with all four feet at the same time!”
From Emma Schiöler: “I thought we were going to die… But we survived! My horse is quite amazing!” (Watch the full video here.)
