Sometimes Your Horse Wins the Race and You Just Have to Hug Them

Aging champion Wise Dan and his trainer Charles Lopreski totally had “a moment” at Churchill Downs on Saturday. Heather Benson shares.

From Heather:

Remember how you used to hug your horse with complete abandon as a little kid? Well, some of us really never grow out of it and racing trainer Charles Lopresti certainly never did. Check out this Vine of him hugging two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan after Wise Dan’s gutsy triumph in the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes, the race right before the Kentucky Derby on Saturday:

And if you are wondering why Charles Lopresti is just so darn happy with his horse, check out the replay of the race:

As Lopresti told The Bloodhorse after the race, “He won’t let a horse go by him. If they get to him, he’s not going to let them go by.”

Go Wise Dan!
