SpectraVET Classic Performance of the Week:

No American has won Britain’s prestigious Burghley Horse Trials since Stephen Bradley in 1993, but Sinead Halpin and Manoir de Carneville came close last year, finishing second.

Sinead and “Tate” dominated the dressage and put in a foot-perfect cross-country round to go into show jumping in first place. Unfortunately the pair pulled three rails in the final phase, dropping them them into a still extraordinary second place to winner Andrew Nicholson of New Zealand.

The pair won’t be re-contesting this year’s Burghley Horse Trials, which takes place this weekend, but bright things are on the horizon. With their history of holding their own in international competition, we could see Sinead in a team coat soon… WEG 2014? Our fingers are crossed.
