Celebrity: Mary-Kate Olsen’s horse won a class at the Hampton Classic last weekend

She wasn’t riding it, but still.

From E! Online:

The actress and entrepreneur’s mount, Marvelous, was victorious in section B in the Local Hunter sections at the 38th annual Hampton Classic Horse Show this past Sunday in Long Island, NY.

Per the show’s website, a total of 46 horses competed in the two professional A and B divisions. Marvelous, ridden by James Anderson, came in first place.

According to the New York Post, Olsen was in attendance to receive the award and was spotted walking the grounds with her French banker beau, Olivier Sarkozy.

Non-horsey side note: That’s Sarkozy as in half-brother to Nicolas Sarkozy, former President of France.

Mary-Kate (or Michelle Tanner, as she will always be known in my heart) has always had a soft spot for horses.

“My Horse & Me,” performed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen:

And then there was the final, heartwarming episode of Full House, in which Michelle falls off her horse and gets amnesia, forcing the family to sit around and share their fondest memories of one another:

Awww.

Michelle, I mean Mary-Kate, rode for the first time in 1992 during the making of a film called To Grandmother’s House We Go, then competed on the equestrian team at Campbell Hall, the grade school she attended in Studio City.

Mary-Kate has owned a handful of horses over the years and ridden occasionally in adulthood. One fan blog reports that she formed a deep attachment to a mare named Camilla during a stay at the exclusive rehab-for-the-stars facility Cirque Lodge, where she underwent treatment for anorexia.

Is Mary-Kate plotting a horse-world comeback? In the spring of 2012 she purchased Marvelous, an Oldenburg with a mile-long USEF show record. Most recently the horse has been competing in Performance Working Hunter classes with rider Erica Quinn.

Erica and Marvelous competing at HITS earlier this year:

Wow, I’m such a stalker.

Go Mary-Kate, go Marvelous, and Go Riding.
