Long shot Palace Malice pulled ahead of Preakness winner Oxbow (2nd) and Kentucky Derby winner and 2-1 favorite Orb (3rd) to clinch victory in the final leg of the Triple Crown.

Palice Malice, who came into the race with only one win in seven starts and a 12th in the Derby, stepped up to the plate to win by 3 1/4-lengths with jockey Mike Smith. The 3-year-old son of Horse of the Year Curlin was one of five starts for trainer Todd Pletcher.
