Video du Jour: A wild ride at Pimlico

This video from a race at Pimlico yesterday has been making the rounds on Facebook, and it’s easy to see why! 

The race appears to be going along just fine until leader Spicer Cub bolts to the outside. Somehow the jockey, Xavier Perez, manages to wrangle the horse back into the race, but then he bolts again — this time running between the outside rail and the starting gate.

Xavier once again brings him back into the race — riding without stirrups at this point — and nearly wins the race in a photo finish. What an impressive ride!
