News: Online ‘Brony Herd Census’ Reveals Facts, Stats About Adult My Little Pony Fans

That’s the headline from an Alabama news station’s report on the results of a recent “State of the Herd” survey.

WTVY Channel 4 (Dothan, AL) reports, “Since its premiere in 2010, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has attracted a rapidly growing adult male fanbase outside of its target audience of young girls. An online survey of over 20 thousand fans of the show reveals statistics behind the show’s fans.”

MLP fans are overwhelmingly male.

The mean age of the fandom is 20. The median age is 19. 79% of Bronies are between 15 and 25, 95% between 10 and 30.

The vast majority of Bronies are single.

Bronies Per Capita: The hot spots are the Pacific Northwest and Northern New England, with the state of Mississippi taking dead last place. Utah has 88 Bronies per million inhabitants, beating Washington State by 4.

In the most recent Gallup poll on the subject, 6.4% of Americans indicated LGBT status, as opposed to 17.7% of Bronies.

Almost all respondents were happy with using the label Brony to describe themselves.

The most common daily activity, besides watching episodes, is listening to Brony music.

The survey also asked questions about how Bronies were introduced to the show, why it appeals to them, and their favorite characters.
