Miley and her family have been vocal in their support of banning horse-drawn carriages in New York City, encouraging fans to sign this petition.

According to the story, “A spokeswoman for New Yorkers for Clean, Livable & Safe Streets, the organization behind the proposed ban, told E! today that they ‘shattered’ their goal of scoring a 100,000 signatures, largely thanks to the Cyrus family’s help, and that they’re hoping to have 110,000 by the end of this month.”

Growing up on a 500-acre farm near Nashville, horses have always been near to Miley’s heart–on and off the screen.

Miley’s mother Tish has additionally hinted that they would love to turn part of their family farm into a horse sanctuary for retired carriage pullers.

Other celebrities who have voiced support for the cause include Alec Baldwin, Lea Michele, Pamela Anderson and Joan Jett.
