The Secret Life of McKenna: A call to arms

Junior blogger McKenna Oxenden is an ambassador for the equestrian-meets-humanitarian organization JustWorld International, and she needs your help.

From McKenna:

Since I am in a little bit of limbo right now I thought I would take a chance to talk again about a very cool organization—JustWorld International.

As you may or may not know, I am proud to say that I am an ambassador for them. JustWorld International is a non-profit organization that helps under privileged children throughout the country through education, arts and crafts, clothing, health and anything else imaginable you can think of. There are so many different opportunities while working with this great organization—fundraising events, mission trips, new friends, and raising awareness.

The unique thing about JWI is that it is supported entirely by the equestrian community. Although unfortunately, it is almost all only hunter/jumper riders. In total, I believe there are only five eventers that are ambassadors.

Let’s change this Horse Nation! Even if you are not an eventer or even a competitive rider, JOIN!!!! It is very, very, VERY cool to be a part of something like this. (Not to mention they have some super cool apparel.)

If being an ambassador isn’t of much interest, think about making a small donation. Five dollars might not seem like a lot but think about if every person gave five dollars how much it would total up to.

This is a very fun and exciting thing and a great way to even further giving back and meeting some new equestrians. I am trying to brainstorm some ideas for fundraising for the 2013 event season and I would love some help.

McKenna Oxenden is a 16-year-old junior in high school, hailing from Columbia, MD. McKenna is a training level event rider and is currently campaigning the 15.1 Trakhener Cross, “Gossip Girl” a.k.a. Gigi and previously competed 13.2 pony superstar, Dorito Cooler Ranch, through training level.
