Flex’n Fork ‘Oh Crap’ Moment of the Day
Today’s “Oh Crap” moment is brought to you by reader Rebecca Fiedel, who recently found herself on the losing end of a game of tug-o-war against a 1,300 pound animal.
The video is from Twin Rivers Horse Trials in Paso Robles, California at their March event last weekend.
Rebecca writes, “This is my horse Cascade and I in the Senior Novice division. She got her days confused and thought that we were supposed to go cross country speed on show jumping day. I’m all for a good gallop, but she took things to an extreme! Unfortunately she was so into her mad dash to beat the clock that she ignored any request of mine to slow down, turn, or steer in general. After our third fly-by fence, we ended up eliminated for three refusals. I’m not sure ‘refusal’ really captures the moment.
“All in all, nothing more to do than leave the arena laughing at the total ridiculousness and come back another day (with another bit and some bionic arms!).”
Holy crap, Rebecca! I especially like the part at the end where you lean way back and pull as hard as you can and Cascade just goes faster, like, “But mom! We’re not done with the course yet! I’ve GOT this!!”
I’d say that between your horse’s athleticism and enthusiasm and your fearlessness and iron will, the two of you will go far in the sport of eventing. Good luck and thanks for sharing. Horse Nation salutes you!
