Shake’n Fork™ ‘Oh Crap’ Moment of the Day

The epic dressage naughtiness continues with this series of photos submitted by reader Kate McNeel of her daughter performing “Rodeo Dressage.”

Kate explains, “This is a frame-by-frame series from the U.S. Pony Club Championships in 2011 at the Kentucky Horse Park. For my child’s debut ride in the Rolex arena, her beloved horse bucked for an entire 20-meter canter circle. She scored a ‘3’ on the movement, but the judge did complement her seat. The best part for me as the parent is that she exited the arena laughing, rather than crying. It just hit a level of absurdity that was hilarious. They went on to run clean on x-country and show jumping, of course.”

Let the good times roll:

Wow. And at the U.S. Pony Club National Championships to boot! Way to pick your battles, buddy.

Well, we’re going to have to go with the judge on this one and say, “Nice seat!” I also love the calm, poised look on the rider’s face–she’s just like, “Do what you please but you’re going to darn well do it on a 20-meter circle!”

On the bright side, sometimes the least enthusiastic dressage horses are the most enthusiastic jumpers, so we’re not surprised to hear that this team went on to rock the next two phases of their championship event.

OK, so the above image might be photoshopped, but between this young rider’s perseverance and her positive attitude, we wouldn’t be surprised if that was her jumping around Rolex in a few years! Maybe this memory will even give her a little chuckle when she canters up the centerline during her four-star dressage test.

Rodeo Dressage Queen, Horse Nation salutes you!
