Thursday Morning Feed from Fleeceworks

Earlier this week, we posted about the USJHA Hunter Derby Finals, held at the Kentucky Horse Park over the weekend. But did you know that the AQHA has a Hunter Derby series as well?

The Huntfield AQHA Derby Series is modeled after the USHJA program. Still in its inaugural year, the series was founded by Lainie Deboer and David Walker in the hope that a Hunter Derby program might have a similarly reinvigorating effect on the AQHA hunter horse, as it did for the hunter/jumper world at large.  The series is held at multiple shows throughout the year, with a final to be held at the AQHA World Championship show, November 10th. This is will be a first for the AQHA offering a “special event” during the World Show, and it should be a real draw with over $40,000 in cash and prizes.

The most recent Derby was held this past weekend in Tulsa at the National Snaffle Bit Association World Championships.

A big congrats to winners Rodger Call & Linda Crothers! They both received a new Thera-wool Show Hunter with all optional shims from Fleeceworks, an enthusiastic sponsor and supporter of the series.

Fleeceworks’ support of the Huntfield AQHA Derby Series is just one more reason why we’re such big fans. Truly, Fleeceworks is passionate about equestrian sport.

Go Fleeceworks, and Go Riding!
