Hey! It’s the weekend

Welcome to the weekend, Horse Nation! And it’s a doozey, with one of the biggest equestrian events in North America, Rolex, taking place this weekend in Kentucky. And Saturday’s the big one, isn’t it–there’s an electricity in the air. By the end of the day, some riders will have kicked bum and others will be kicking themselves, but it’s all OK so long as everyone walks away from the course safe and sound. Win, lose or draw, Horse Nation wishes everyone the best of luck toward that end.

By the time you read this, I’ll be en route to Lexington myself if not already there. The live feed is great but there’s really no substitute for being there in person, especially on cross-country day. The shrill whistle that means a horse is fast-approaching, the hush of the crowd as horse and rider size up the obstacle before them, and the thunderous roar of cheers that follows each pair around the course. Not to mention the fabulous shopping and the funnel cakes–man, I love those things.

If you’re lucky enough to be at the big event, be sure to email us your pictures and stories ([email protected]) or post them to our Facebook wall. If you’re stuck at home, no worries: Eventing Nation‘s Rolex coverage is so comprehensive, you’ll almost feel as though you’re there yourself.

Go Rolex, and Go Riding.
