Tuesday Morning Feed from Dubarry

Who wants to go to Ireland? I do. Windswept cliffs, cozy pubs, friendly people and, of course, a world-renowned equestrian scene.

I read a story in Horse Talk New Zealand yesterday about how thrilled Ireland was with the win of Irish Sport Horse stallion Flexible in the World Cup Showjumping Final in the Netherlands over the weekend. At age 16, he was the oldest horse in the competition.

“This is a tremendous boost for the Irish Sport Horse,”Horse Sport Ireland Chairman Joe Walsh told Horse Talk. “To win the world’s most testing indoor competition is an amazing tribute to the quality of Irish breeding and I want to congratulate the breeders Edward and Catherine Doyle and of course the American rider Rich Fellers for his tremendous skill today.

“I believe it is also a testament to the soundness and longevity of the Irish Sport Horse that a horse like Flexible can not only continue to compete at the age of 16, but also beat the world’s best in the very toughest of competitions.”

Flexible is a small horse, barely 16 hands, with a jumping style that’s scrappy and nimble. He’s a son of Cruising, who has sired some of the world’s best jumping and eventing horses.

Anyway, back to this fantasy trip to Ireland of yours. Dubarry wants to turn your dream into reality.

In case you missed the official announcement over the weekend, our fantastic sponsor is hosting a Rolex 3-Day Event photo competition on its Facebook page starting on Thursday, April 16.

There are four opportunities to enter the competition over the four days of Rolex. Each morning of the competition, Dubarry will announce a daily photo theme for that day’s entries. You will submit photos that match each day’s theme by posting them to the Dubarry Facebook page.  Keep an eye out right here on Horse Nation and Dubarry’s Facebook Page for announcements of the theme each day.  You can enter up to one photo per day – enter all four days or any single day.  The entrant who posts the single photo with the most votes at competition close on Monday, April 30th will win a trip for two to Ireland, home of the Dubarry Galway Boot!  It’s as simple at that.

Terms and conditions apply. Check http://www.facebook.com/DubarryOfIreland for details.  And I don’t need to mention that Dubarrys are a must have component of your Rolex spectator (or rider) tack.  [Buy Dubarrys]

Go Dubarry, and Go Riding.
