“Colby is a 13 year old Appendix. He is approximately 15.2hh.

He has a fair amount of dressage schooling and is very soft in the mouth and accepting of the bit. He is honest over fences. He loves to trail ride, and although he has never fox hunted, I imagine he would be a good candidate for that!

He is sweet, quiet, and has a sound brain. He has no soundness issues. He does not buck, spook, bolt, rear, or refuse.

Both the owner’s family circumstances and the closing of the boarding facility where he lives have forced us to look for a new home for Colby ASAP, which is why he is being given away.”

Very sweet, spirited, no vices, barefoot, good for farrier, vet, trailers, lunges, respects fence, in herd with mares and geldings. Fall and Winter off. UTD with vaccines, coggins, teeth. Ready to move. Great home a must.”

“Snap Call is in need of a light riding/companion type home. Snappy does crib, although controlled with a collar. He is very easy to ride and slow. Snappy also gets along well with horses in turnout, mares or geldings, he is very easy to handle with no bad habits, he loves attention and being fussed over. He is free to a local home only, references will be checked and contract is required.”

“My daughter is in college and will soon be moving out of state for graduate school. She no longer has the time for Cane, so we are looking for a good home for him. Cane would make an awesome therapy horse or companion for a retired race horse. He is well behaved, has good ground manners, stands for farrier and vet, loves children and other animals. Cane requires corrective shoeing due to uneven heel heights. He is up to date with coggins, immunizations, and worming. We would like to place him with a therapy program that’s a licensed not-for-profit (501 3C). Would also consider donating him as a companion horse to the right person. Would require references and an inspection of your barn.”

Sadie – Tennessee

“Safe Harbor was contacted about a pony with a ruptured eyeball in need of help. We agreed to jump in, and brought Sadie to the rescue, and immediately took care of the surgery to remove her damaged eye and allow her to re-adjust to life without daily pain. She had lived with exposed nerves, infection, and excruciating pain for almost 3 years!

Sadie is an 8 year old very cute paint. She is pony sized and is an easy keeper. She integrated with the herd without a single mare squeal, no run around, and was perfect. She was scared of the goats at first, but less than 12 hours later was literally napping with a goat curled up next to her belly. She became totally accepting of a chicken extremely quickly, too. Basically, she is wonderful with anything in the animal kingdom.

Sadie tends to be anxious under saddle. She has had 5 training rides, but our time with her has let us know that what she thrives at is companionship, not riding. She’s an excellent buddy horse–great with other horses, but also great alone. If you need a friend for your trail horse, dominant or otherwise, Sadie will be happy to fill the bill.

She enjoys grooming, leads like a lady, stands for the farrier, will stand tied, and knows how to be cross tied. She handles being bathed ok, but doesn’t love it. She is hardy as can be, and a very very easy keeper. Ground work just to keep her in shape is recommended, or she may be prone to getting fat. She totally relaxes out in the round pen, and naturally collects. Sadie will be an extremely fun pony for someone who enjoys their horse time with their feet planted on the ground instead of in the seat of the saddle.

Her adoption fee has been sponsored, and she is just looking for the right home!

Safe Harbor Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 non profit rescue based in Middle Tennessee. Please visit our website for our adoption application, and to read more about us (including our adoption area) on our About Adopting FAQ.”
