Fantasy Farm Tuesday: A Texas Ranch for Renegade Show Jumpers

Buy this property and be the next Beezie Madden, but also the next John Wayne. Life is too short to have to pick, and at this Texas ranch, there’s no need!

Horse Nation’s managing editor Kristen and I have in the past mused about the charming paradox that she’s a cowgirl living in upstate New York, and I’m an eventer living in Utah; a good reminder that you can’t just put a big label on a place and assume all horse people are the same there. This gorgeous ranch outside of Kerrville, TX is the perfect example of that: a jumper’s paradise set in the rolling green hills of the Lone Star State.

Come on in!

The Land

At 103 acres, the land grab on this cutie is nothing to sniff at, and certainly could keep an eventer plenty happy, as well. As the listing states, there’s some nice rolling ups and downs, but nothing on the property that couldn’t be navigable. Bear Creek runs right through the middle, too, making for some scenic water stops (and maybe a water complex or liverpool?)

The Barn

The barn is a really genius, ergonomic design. You can drive your rig right in for easy loading and unloading of horses and equipment, the stalls are bright and clean and sturdy, and the tack room is perfectly Texas. The barn’s living quarters are pretty easy on the eyes, as well.

The Arena

The rustic fencing on this world class arena is the perfect marriage of Alamo meets Palm Desert, and I’m not sure you could ask for a prettier backdrop.

The Main House

Not to forget the people, the human house is ON FLEEK. The house has little hints of modern style, but is firmly planted in the rustic American West aesthetic. The home features a gorgeous fireplace, walnut floors, the most audacious master bathroom I’ve ever seen, and of course, an antler chandelier. I think it’s actually Texas building code that all ranch houses must have an antler chandelier.

Last but not least in the house, we’re crazy about the outdoor living space that features beautiful wood and stonework, mission style lighting, an outdoor kitchen, and all the rocking chairs your country heart could ever desire.

The property also has a guest house, a ranch foreman’s house, and a second 2-stall barn with its own storage/tack room.  This stylish western paradise with all the fixings is currently listed at $3,299,000. Many thanks to Ray Land Co. of Texas for sharing their listing with us, and you can visit their site and the listing for more information.
