The richest reining show of the year, the National Reining Horse Association Derby, just wrapped up in Oklahoma City, and the top prize was claimed by Todd Bergen aboard Platinum Vintage. The pair marked a whopping score of 225.5 to win the Level 4 Open Derby, which helped push Bergen (unofficially) up to the NRHA’s newest $2 Million Rider.

Take a look at their run — and turn up the volume for maximum effect! No one knows how to cheer like a reining crowd.

For this performance, in which the pair beat out 201 other horse-and-rider combinations both in preliminary rounds and the finals, Bergen netted a check for $75,000. Platinum Vintage won for his owner Harper Connor a whole slew of prizes, including a new saddle, belt buckle, and boots as well as the use of a brand-new Sundowner trailer for a year. For nominating the horse to the Derby, Petra Zeitler Connor earned $3,000. Not a bad day in the office for Platinum Vintage and his connections.
