From Allison:

On a sunny April afternoon, in 2001, I met my heart horse. Most equestrians says such a bond is instantaneous and irrevocable. I found this to be true, as a gazed at a little buckskin overo filly clinging to her mothers side. Her eyes were soft and much too big for her small frame. She was still gangly, as she was only a month old. Her name was Mocha. She approached me hesitantly and nuzzled my hand. Her muzzle was soft as her lips searched for the grass I was holding. I knew then that this was my forever love. And so our journey began.

At the time, I was only 6 years old. I had just begun riding lessons. But I knew I had to have this horse. So I remained involved in her life throughout the years. When I was 13, the opportunity arose to lease Mocha. Of course, I accepted. We were inseparable.

As the years went by, we grew together. She was included in my senior pictures, she was at my graduation party, she was there when my grandma and grandpa passed away, and she has, lovingly, taken on every challenge thrown our way. It is nearly impossible to choose a certain instance where she has helped me because she has always helped me. I wouldn’t be who I am without her help and love. This year, I was able to become her owner. And, to me, there is no greater pleasure than to be able to support Mocha through the rest of her years, just has she has always supported me.
