BoJack the Horseman, Coming to Netflix

So a horse walks into a bar…and the bartender says, “Hey, haven’t I seen you on TV?”

Netflix has lined up Will Arnett (Arrested Development), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy) for its first original cartoon show for adults, set to premiere in mid-2014. But…as you might expect from actors who played a ne’er-do-well uncle and a crystal meth dealer whose catchphrase would, uh, only be acceptable language in foxhunting circles, this cartoon is not meant for kids.

The basic premise is that BoJack is a washed-up former TV star of a fictional 1990s family sitcom called Horsin’ Around, and now is down on his luck with a drinking problem. I see plenty of “horse walks into a bar” jokes ahead.

Will Arnett will voice BoJack Horseman, with Aaron Paul as Todd, BoJack’s human sidekick,  and Amy Sedaris as Princess Caroline, his feline ex-lover and agent.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, has described the adult-targeted show as a “brutally funny and unique take on what can happen after pop stardom.”

Like Netflix’s other original series, including House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, the entire 12-episode season will be released at once. We’ll be looking out for it, so expect a review once it airs!

Go Riding.
