Video du Jour: ‘Secretariat’s Jockey, Ron Turcotte’

On the 40th anniversary of Secretariat’s Triple Crown win, the National Film Board of Canada has released a feature-length documentary about jockey Ron Turcotte.

The film tells the remarkable story of Turcotte’s rise to fame in 1973, the fall that left him a paraplegic in 1978—after an illustrious career with more than 3,000 victories—and his emotional journey back to the people and places that marked his life. Featuring never-before-seen footage of Secretariat and appearances by Triple Crown winners Steve Cauthen and Jean Cruguet, as well as Secretariat’s owner Penny Chenery, this road movie takes viewers deep into the thrilling and dangerous world of horse-racing, where Turcotte remains an enduring source of inspiration.
